Gavenagain has a quote from Karen Bennit that addresses some of the feelings another person at Gate Crashers and myself were having about responsibilities for children. Sometimes what we see needing to be done and what we feel adequate to do don’t seem to be within our scope of capability. God help us! There is so much we see needing to be done but it is frightening when we start to look and realize what we are or could be getting ourselves into. Do we ever need courage and guidance!

Maybe I’m the impetuous type, but for me the best way of doing things that aren’t safe is just to go ahead and do them. If I start counting the cost then I know that I don’t have enough in the bank to pay, and then I’m liable to back out. However just stepping out means that God has an opportunity to work through me, and complete things where I’m not adequate.
Or maybe I’m just presumptive, and He’s been gracious enough to cover for me up ’till now?
Maybe we impetuous ones just give God more chances to work since we get ourselves into stuff we certainly are not capable of doing on our own. Maybe he made some of us like that for a reason? If we were good and cautious we might never dare to do the things he puts before us.
