Getting it right

You have got to forgive a lot in order to read our local newspaper.  They try hard.  And provide us with reasons to shake our heads and laugh.

Tonight on the front page:  Buisness owners give thumps up to BID idea  (BID= Business Improvement District)

I presume the error was due to a slip of the thumb!


Actually that is quite funny – I catch the thumps and spell business wrong myself.  I should have known to check, buisness, oops business, is a word I always spell wrong  – and I know it.

    That was one word I had trouble with when I was young, however, when I was old enough to work, I had it cased! BUT A NEWSPAPER??????????

    Update…..I just looked at the Newspaper, hard copy, and it was spelled correctly, so perhaps you were checking out the news on the web…….

    Here I was so concerned about the word “business” I didn’t even notice the word “thumps”….I’d never do at a newspaper either! hee hee

    I remember seeing an add KFC placed in the Daily Herald a while ago for some special family pack. They garaunteed 7.2 pieces of children in every box. I assume that was a mistake.

  6. Hah! That’s hilarious! I though “business” was the word you were pointing out, not noticing “thumps” until Sharon pointed it out. Interesting, perception is…
