Katrina has done her damage. Now even before the clean up gets significantly underway, another, perhaps worse storm is on its way. They say that this doesn’t happen often – two big storms in one year. And Rita promises to be big.
We have been praying for the victims of Katrina. Perhaps we should spend some time praying that God would soften the blow of Rita, that people would listen and get out of the way to a safe place. Pre-empt it sort of.
I don’t know, but I think I will do some praying.

I feel much more personal about this one than Katrina.
The company HQ is between Houston and Galveston – directly in the path. They shut shop yesterday, turned off all the computers (our email and access to all sites using US-based DNS addresses is down) and have instructed the employees to evacuate. We’re hoping that there will still be a business when they return – we could lose all our customers if they can’t supply any assays.
At least they’ve properly taken precautions this time.
Some of my roomate’s family is stuck in Houston, and couldn’t get out because of the traffic. So…that’s a little scary.
