The official name is Zakariya Abdi Omar Lanoie.  Unique spelling.  Unique kid.

Zakariya came home with mom on Saturday.  Life is a bit busy around here.  Visitors.  Helping with baby and trying to keep up with other things.  Grace and Z also got up and wanted to go to church with us yesterday.  maybe part of the motivation was to show off this beautiful little guy.  We’ll take what we get.  We were glad to have her come.  And if one thing has been consistent for her throughout the pregnancy it has been loving support from everyone at church.  And practical help and advice from other moms. 

Abdi, the father, continues to impress us with his willingness to help.  He is also getting to know us better, I hope as he spends more time around us.

More pictures will be posted soon.  Time has sort of been at a premium and though we have taken photos I just haven’t had time to do anything with them.

Worked all day today.  I felt alternately hot and cold most of the day.  Tonight I am definately cold and snuggling under Leo’s sweater and my duvet.  I think I have caught a bug.

I just had my flu shot on Tuesday. 

I do not want this  bug whatever it is.

Surely by tomorrow I will feel better.  Tonight I decided not to go and visit the grandson.  The last thing I want is for him to get sick.

Bummer.

I did an interesting thing today.  I was interviewed by Radio Canada for my thoughts on the rampant decay that is seen in people that use crystal meth.  Anything crystal meth related is hot news I guess, especially up here in this city.  So my interview was in French.  Have no idea when it will air.  The patient you may see in my chair is not a drug user.  She is a good friend and fellow anglo-francophone.  I haven’t used that much French in awhile.  Hope I don’t sound too “anglais” – but what the heck – I am.

We have a baby boy, born at 10:40 am by c-section.  He weighs in at 6lbs 13oz.  and is 19 1/4 inches tall.  He has a head of hair and looks a bit like his mom.  Pictures will be posted.

I know his first name will be Zecharia.  I am not sure of how they will spell that exactly but if I’ve spelled it wrong I will correct myself. 

And here are the first pictures of him.  Grace finally got to hold him this evening.  He did not want to suck so has a naso-gastric tube in place.  Pray he will get the hang of sucking soon.
