St Mary Senior A girls team placed third in their section with a bronze.
Way to go girls. They beat Carlton they did! That, being a close to home rivalry, may have counted for more than the bronze.
Now that basketball is over, the studying had better begin in ernest. Not much time left in the year and Sara is working hard towards some scholarships – hopefully.

It is Hoopla weekend in Regina.
The St Mary Senior girls and guys teams are going as well as the Carlton Senior girls. Three teams from PA is pretty good in this major invitational meet. The girls won their seat in it last weekend at a tournament in MooseJaw.
Sara is on her way and is pretty excited.
(Oh yeah- her boyfriend is on the boys team so they get to spend a weekend at the same tournament)
Way to go St Mary Marauders!

That is a long time in human years. In dog years, however, I would be absolutely ancient. Probably be put down a long time ago.
Fifty eight years ago, I made two people very happy just by showing up and crying.
If I did that today, well, if they didn’t put me down they would certainly want to lock me away.
Isn’t age great!
Happy Birthday to me! OK – to my kids – this is a clue to take me out, buy me a cake, buy me presents. Do all three. It is OK by me.

This was exactly what I needed.
For the purpose of bringing together the material I have been reading in books and what I have been working through in my mind on the topic of Women and Spirituality, this was a seminar like no other I could have wished for.
I am not sure exactly what to do with the whole experience. I will be processing it all for awhile.
One thing for sure, Edwina Gately is a woman who has experienced the working of the Holy Spirit in her life. She is gifted, incredibly gifted to do something her church will rarely allow her to do – preach. She has stories to tell of the goodness and power of God. She has lived out a life of devotion to God. But she, being a woman, is rarely given a voice.
We were priviledged to hear her.
And today, for the first time, I partook in the Eucharist in a Catholic setting. I was not an outsider – my faith made me belong. That kind of topped off the weekend.
Queen’s House (there should be a couple of pictures here but I am having trouble with the uploader – so later)
– I think I will be going back.

There is much rejoicing in my heart – my lost journal showed up.
There is much sadness in my brain. I left it in a pile of papers at my office – am I blind or simply forgetful?

I am finally home after a long day. Oh, I was home briefly after work – about 30 minutes. Just enough time to organize the leftovers and tell people to heat up their own plate in the microwave of whatever they could scrounge. Then I packed up my bass and headed off to Rivier to practice with the Prince Albert String Orchestra. We are in the music festival next week.
They are actually letting me play. Sometimes I am not really playing the notes, you know. sometimes the music just goes too fact for my fingers to get to the right spot on the strings and I figure it is better to fake it than to play a really off tune note.
I am getting better. Not bad for having only played for 8 months.
I have to practice very hard this week. And then keep it up till the year end concert on May 6.
After the practice there was a meeting. There is not enough involvement in the organizations that make things run. A lack of volunteers.
Tell me about it! I have spent the last 9 months or more rounding up volunteers to run our child care programs at church.
Then I ran by the bank to deposit my pay cheque and then by my Aunt’s place to pay her rent.
Last night I didn’t sleep well. Leo must have some kind of nasal congestion. He was snuffling and snorting a good part of the night. I think I will head off to bed now and try to get a head start. Maybe if I am already asleep before he starts making all that noise, I will get some sleep.
Good night all.

And I guess our beam is- suspended.
The kitchen should be a go.

Tomorrow sometime, the designer of our kitchen is coming by to make a wee hole in the ceiling of the hall closet. We are in search of beams and such. There has to be something holding up the two floors above the kitchen, we’re just not sure what or where.
It would be nice to know before we remove something that would cause the building to come crumbling down.
So here’s hoping we find a suspended beam up there somewhere or my kitchen dreams will remain just that – dreams.

Once Leo and I were lying in bed late on a Saturday morning. He asked me if I would like him to make my wildest dreams come true.
“You mean we are going to remodel the kitchen!” I replied.
Not quite what he had in mind. But here we are, only about 5 years later and we are going to do it!
Oops – I mean remodel the kitchen.
This morning our preferred cabinet maker/designer dropped his proposed design off at my office. I like it. This is exciting. I really want to get started NOW.
